How to Budget for Bridal Hair & Makeup ~

An amazingly talented makeup artist friend of mine once said, “For brides to get the finished look they truly desire they need to look at the investment in hair and makeup in a whole different light”. It was so well put I just have to share it with all of you:

He went on to say…..“The one thing a bride comes away from her wedding day with is photos. I see so many brides obsess over the dress and then skimp on the hair, makeup or photography and it really is a shame. Brides should think of these four things as a package deal, if one of these areas falls short it always comes through in the photos. If a bride plans to spend $3000.00 on her dress she should plan to spend at least 10% of the cost of the dress on hair & makeup respectively."

This made perfect sense to me and I thought – WOW I wonder how many brides look at it this way. For hair and makeup that will live up to the dress and your expectation of the overall finished look you may want to take this into consideration as you start your planning. If you budget $2000.00 for your dress budget in at least $200 for hair and $200 for makeup as well, so the cost of your overall look = $2400.00. Then find the best photographer you can afford.

Thank you to my friend, a veteran of Bryant Square fashion week with 15+ years w/ M.A.C., who recently returned from a trip to lovely Ireland to work his magic! Wish I could have been there with you. =)
